Sunderland man denies stabbing attack

A man accused of a stab attack will be tried by a jury next month.

Lee Johnson is claimed to have caused serious injury to a victim at a house in Ashbrooke, Sunderland, in March.

The 29-year-old appeared at Newcastle Crown court yesterday via videolink to HMP Durham. During the short hearing he pleaded not guilty to a charge of wounding with intent.

Johnson, of Claremount Terrace, Ashbrooke, Sunderland, will be tried by a jury during the week commencing July 13.

Judge Deborah Sherwin remanded him in custody.
