Sunderland man denies attempted murder

A MAN has denied trying to murder his cousin in a stabbing attack.

Kyle Curtis is alleged to have caused a collapsed lung when he stabbed 21-year-old Natalie Curtis in the back during an attack on July 20.

At Newcastle Crown Court yesterday Curtis, also 21, of The Royalty, Sunderland, pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder.

He appeared at the court via videolink to HMP Durham.

A trial has been listed for January 7 next year and Judge James Goss QC remanded Curtis in custody.

The attack is said to have happened in a flat at The Avenue in Ashbrooke, Sunderland.

Miss Curtis was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with two wounds to her back after the incident.
