Sunderland man charged after South Shields slashing

A MAN has been charged with a neck-slashing attack in a street.

 The 41-year-old victim was wounded in Prince Edward Road, in The Nook, South Shields, with a knife.

 He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital with severe injuries to his neck before being transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital for emergency surgery.

 His condition is described as stable.

 David Burridge has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

 The 33-year-old, of Bright Street, Roker, Sunderland, is due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

 A 49-year-old man, also thought to be from Sunderland, was arrested but has been released without further charge.

 All three men are thought to know each other.
