A MAN was arrested after police found drugs on him.

James Mitchison was stopped when officers saw him staggering along Hylton Road in Sunderland, in the early hours of November 19.

He told them he was walking to his home but was struggling to walk in a straight line.

Mitchison, now of Windermere court, Shiney Row, then showed them a small plastic bag with a white substance in it. He was also found to have foil strips containing tablets, thought to be diazepam.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to possession of Class B and Class C drugs.

Chris Wilson, defending, said the 29-year-old developed a drugs problem in prison.

Magistrates adjourned the case for probation to prepare reports about Mitchison, who was already subject to a conditional discharge.
