A SAFC fan arrested after the Tyne-Wear derby has denied being drunk and disorderly.

Anthony Paul Holyoak pleaded not guilty to the offence at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court today.

Glenda Beck, prosecuting, told the court the 21-year-old was arrested on Holmeside in Sunderland city centre after the match on Sunday, April 14, which saw the Black Cats beat rivals Newcastle 3-0.

Holyoak, of Brandling Street in Roker, denied the charge.

He will stand trial on June 26 and was released on conditional bail.
