Sunderland driver acussed of mowing down dog walker after taking drugs

A DRIVER accused of knocking over a man will have his case heard at crown court.

Anthony Dove appeared at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court facing charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drugs, using a vehicle without insurance, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident.

The 30-year-old allegedly hit a dogwalker in near South Hylton Boat Club in Sunderland on November 4.

Dove is also accused of making a false statement to obtain insurance on October 10 and using a vehicle without insurance on April 4 this year. He entered no pleas and magistrates sent the case to Newcastle Crown Court, where Dove will appear on May 28.

Dove, of Hartford Road in Sunderland, was released on bail until then on the condition that he lives and sleeps at his home each night.
