SUNDERLAND footballers Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner have been arrested in connection with a car-wrecking spree in Newcastle city centre.
A number of cars were damaged in Stowell Street in the city, just yards from Newcastle United’s St James’s Park.
The attack is believed to have happened at around 10pm on Tuesday, December 6.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Police can confirm that on Thursday, December 15, two men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
“It follows an investigation into damage caused to cars on Stowell Street in Newcastle city centre, which happened at about 10pm on Tuesday, December 6.”
Neither player was involved in Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill’s debut victory over Blackburn last weekend as Cattermole was suspended and Bendtner was injured.
