TWO brothers stole computer equipment after breaking into an office block, a court heard.

John and James Morrison raided the building in Frederick Street, Sunderland, during the last weekend in September.

The pair have almost 200 previous convictions between them, Newcastle Crown Court heard.

An accountancy firm, a slimming clinic and a recruitment office were all targeted during the Frederick Street break-in.

The offices suffered loss and damage during the raids.

The Morrison siblings were spotted carrying computer parts from the building by a nightwatchman.

John Morrison, 36, of Norfolk Street, Sunderland, has convictions for 76 previous offences. He pleaded guilty to burgling two premises in the building and was jailed for 14 weeks.

James Morrison, of Villette Road, Hendon, admitted burgling three offices. The 39-year-old was sentenced to 18 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for 12 months, with supervision and curfew requirements. He has 123 previous convictions.

Both men claimed they went into the building after they spotted an open door.
