Sunderland bookies robbed at knifepoint - man in court

A MAN is due to appear in court after a Sunderland bookmaker’s was robbed at knifepoint.

The Paddy Power office in Derwent Street in the city centre was raided at 1.49pm yesterday.

A man entered the premises armed with a knife, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

Following inquiries, policev arrested a 40-year-old man was arrested.

Stephen Devlin, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery and possessing a knife.

He is due to appear before Sunderland Magistrates Court today.
