Stealing £386 of Moet Champagne and drink driving - the latest Sunderland court cases

The following cases from the Sunderland area were dealt with South Northumbria Magistrates’ Court, which sits at both Sunderland and South Shields, recently:

Sunny Sharma, 36, of Holborn Road, Sunderland, was banned from driving for 20 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £334 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting drink driving on October 12.

Benjamin Alexander Shickle, 31, of Dellfield Drive, Pennywell, Sunderland, was banned from driving for 36 months, fined £300 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drink driving on August 16.

Wayne Birbeck, 44, of Charters Crescent, South Hetton, was banned from driving for 42 days, fined £160 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting failing to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so in Houghton on June 3.

Louis Gary Johnson, 29, of Gladstone Street, Roker, Sunderland, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting stealing nine bottle of Moet Champagne worth £386 from Sainsbury’s, in Northallerton, on June 13.

Steven Mark Waites, 48, of Hampden Street, South Bank, near Middlesbrough, received five penalty points on his driving licence, was fined £233 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting speeding at 63 miles per hour through 40 miles per hour roadworks near Testo’s Roundabout on March 23.

Jack Howell, 27, of Devon Walk, Concord, Washington, was banned from driving for 22 months, fined £400 and ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £84 costs after admitting drink driving on October 12.

Salim Ahmed, 24, of Hurstwood Road, Sunderland, was banned from driving for six months, fined £215 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting speeding at 44 miles per hour along a 30 miles per zone of the A690 New Durham Road on June 13.
