Staff member assaulted at Nisa Local in Boxing Day robbery

Staff member at Nisa Local near Pennywell was left shaken after being assaulted by a man for refusing to open the till in a robbery on Boxing Day.

On Boxing Day (Thursday, December 26) at about 6pm, police were called to the scene of a robbery at the Nisa Local on Sevenoaks Drive, near the Hastings Hill pub.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police, said: “It was reported that a man entered the store and acted aggressively before demanding money from the till.

“After the cashier refused the man then assaulted the victim.

“The offender then took a quantity of cigarettes from behind the counter.

“Nobody was seriously injured in the incident but the member of staff was left shaken.”
