THIEVES smashed their way in to a supermarket and grabbed a haul of televisions and computer consoles.

The attack happened on Christmas Day at the Asda store in Byron Place, Seaham.

The yobs broke through a window at the front of the store by throwing a drain cover through the glass at about 8.30pm.

Four PlayStation 3 consoles, including two with the game Battlefield, an Xbox, and two televisions, worth a combined total of £1,643, were taken in the raid, which lasted just four minutes.

Detectives believe a car was used to take away the goods from the scene and they are now reviewing CCTV images as part of inquiries.
