A SCORNED mother scratched “slag” into the paintwork of a love rival’s car.

Leanne Haze blamed the woman for her partner leaving her when she was pregnant with their third child after a 14-year relationship.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that just weeks after giving birth, Haze turned up at the woman’s home very upset and shouting abuse.

During the confrontation, the 33-year-old, of Eastlea Road, Seaham, caused more than £2,000 of damages.

“Both victims’ cars were damaged,” prosecutor Diane Spence told the court.

“The man’s Saab had scratches down the side and the woman’s Peugeot had scratches. ‘Slag’ was scratched into the side of the door.

“It cost in excess of £2,000 to make good the damage.”

Haze was arrested and admitted she had gone to the house because she was angry and upset.

Miss Spence said: “She said she had been particularly upset because he left her when she was pregnant.

“She was tired, upset, alone and angry.

“It is apparent she blamed the other woman for the break down in her relationship, and that she was keen to try and rekindle the relationship but it was not an opportunity open to her.”

Haze admitted charges of affray and criminal damage.

Judge Brian Forster sentenced her to a community order for 12 months with supervision.

The judge said: “We are only here because the defendant at the time had difficulties dealing with a situation.

“If she has difficulties in future she can speak to the probation service.”

The judge said Haze was in an emotional state at the time of the offences and is an intelligent woman who is dedicated to her children.

He told her: “You made a fatal error in going around to the house and, for the want of a better expression, losing it.”

Warren Grier, defending, said: “It is safe to say this was a one-off.

“She accepts the relationship has ended and wants to move on from that.”
