A SECOND man has been arrested after a knifeman got into a couple’s home before stealing a BMW and a mobile phone.
The incident happened at a house in Mortimer Street, Pallion, on Wednesday evening.
The offender sneaked through the unlocked front door of the property, where the 36-year-old victim and his 34-year-old girlfriend were relaxing.
He threatened the terrified couple before making off with a mobile phone and one of their cars, a gunmetal grey BMW 3 series coupe worth £10,000.
Northumbria Police say a man aged 50, who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A second man, aged 26, has now been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and has also been bailed pending further inquiries.
Officers are appealing for witnesses in both Mortimer Street and Neville Road.
