Search for suspected hit-and-run driver after car smashes into van in Blackhall Colliery

Collision investigators are searching for a driver who ran off after his car smashed into a parked van.

Durham Constabulary has appealed for help to hunt down the man after the collision in Second Street in Blackhall Colliery at around 2.15pm yesterday, Sunday, November 15.

The incident involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa, which was seen crashing into a Ford Transit van.

It was reported to officers the driver of the Corsa then ran off towards Hardwick Street.

He is described as white, tall, of slim build, and around 20 years old and was wearing a blue/green jacket and blue tracksuit bottoms.

No one has been reported injured in the incident.

The car was recovered from the scene by officers and inquiries are ongoing to try and find the driver.

Anyone with information which could help the force is asked to call 101 quoting incident reference number 194 of November 15.
