Seaham woman in court after man is left with a 'number of stab wounds'

A woman has appeared in court charged in connection with a suspected early hours stabbing.

Durham Constabulary has confirmed Katherine Louise Quinnell, of Ash Crescent in Parkside, Seaham, has been charged with wounding with intent.

The 34-year-old appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court earlier today, Tuesday, September 15, and was remanded in custody to next appear before Durham Crown Court on Monday, October 19.

He was taken by ambulance for treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, although his injuries are not thought to be serious.

A North East Ambulance spokesperson confirmed an air ambulance was called, but the man was taken to hospital by road with a doctor on board after it sent a Hazard Area Response Team and a double-crewed ambulance to the incident.
