Schoolboy taken to hospital with facial injuries after assault in Washington

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a schoolboy was assaulted in Washington.

The incident happened at 2pm on Tuesday July 8 outside Oxclose Comprehensive School in Dilston Close.

The 15-year-old boy was assaulted by another male causing him to suffer serious facial injuries and require hospital treatment.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and asking any witnesses to contact them. Extra police will be on patrol in the area.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Stewart said: “These sorts of incidents can be particularly worrying especially for other pupils at the school and I’d like to reassure them that we will not tolerate any kind of violent behaviour.

“We’ll have extra officers on patrol in the area both to carry out enquiries into the incident and to reassure people.”
