A FOREIGN student was tricked into paying £250 for a bag containing a bottle of water, when he believed he was buying an iPod and iPad.

The 22-year-old was in Durham’s Market Square on Thursday, when he was approached by a stranger offering the items. The con happened at a nearby garage, when the “goods” were bought from the boot of a blue Ford Ka.

The conman was 5ft 8ins tall, slim and clean shaven with short fair hair.

He wore a checked hooded and jeans.
