A SALES agent has been cleared of stealing £15,000 of jewellery from her employer.

Leslie Marie Gibson, 43, of Brougham Court, Peterlee, was found not guilty of theft from Darren McCormick Jewellery Ltd of Shildon.

At Durham Crown Court, Judge Christopher Prince recorded a not guilty verdict, and made a defence costs order in Gibson’s favour.

In January of last year Gibson was given community work for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

She admitted asking one of her customers to deny receiving a list of jewellery items for sale.
