Police have issued a safety warning to parents after micro crystals were found in Halloween trick or treat bags in Sunderland.
Children across the city enjoyed the Halloween festivities on Tuesday.
But after returning home with their treats, items described as 'Orbeez' - micro crystals - were discovered by some children, and are not supposed to be eaten.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "We have been made aware of reports in the Sunderland area relating to items found in children’s Halloween trick or treat bags.
"These items are described as 'Orbeez' which are small round micro crystals which absorb water and vary in colour.
"These items are NOT meant to be eaten and we are asking parents/carers to please check whether their children have been given any of these items."
