TWO muggers have been warned they are facing jail over a street robbery.

Ian Smith and Kyle Dixon took an iPod, sat nav system, wallet and other personal property from their victim after approaching him in the street in Sunderland last February.

The pair had denied robbery and were due to be tried by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court, but changed their pleas to guilty before a jury was sworn in. Smith, 22, of Southwick Road and Dixon, 18, of Brandling Street – both Sunderland – will be sentenced later this month.

Smith was remanded in custody and Dixon was granted bail.

Judge Penny Moreland warned them: “Both of you know the most likely outcome, as far as sentence is concerned, is immediate custody.”
