A CALL centre worker was caught drink-driving after a training day.

Harvijay Singh was stopped by police on the A1231 near Washington at about 10.50pm on June 5 after an officer spotted the bumper was hanging off his Vauxhall Astra.

A roadside breath test showed he was over the limit, and further tests gave a reading of 43 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

At Sunderland Magistrates’ Court, Singh, 23, from Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to drink-driving.

Magistrates banned him from driving for 12 months and ordered him to pay a £215 fine, £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
