POLICE have bailed a 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of raping another man in a play area in Washington.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in connection with the attack, and remained in police custody until shortly before 4pm yesterday.
The arrest follows an alleged sex attack at about 11pm on Monday, near the wooden climbing wall in Glebe Park, off Abbey Road.
The victim, who is in his 20s, reported being approached by an unknown man, who went on to rape him.
Detective inspector Dave English said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and specially trained officers will offer him support throughout the process.”
Officers are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone with information to call 101 ext 69191.
