RAIDERS have stolen £5,000-worth of metal lintels from a building site in Boldon.

The theft happened some time between I3.30pm on Friday August 1, and 7.10am on Monday August 4 when eight pallets of metal lintels were taken from the site at Cotswold Lane in Boldon.

It’s believed the offenders used a vehicle - a flat bed or transit-type van or truck - to transport the metal, and went into and out of the site via the entrance off Hutton Street.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who has information about the whereabouts of the stolen metal is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 233 04/08/14, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The appeal comes during Northumbria Police’s Operation Soundwave, aimed at tackling thieves and burglars across the force.
