A MUM-TO-BE has admitted stealing slimming pills from a chemist and £750 worth of furniture from her former landlord.

Julie Walls, 32, removed six tablets from a £23 tube of Raspberry Ketones while she was waiting for a prescription in Boots in Houghton on November 12.

Sunderland magistrates heard how Walls, of Meadow Terrace, Herrington Burn was traced to her address from the prescription form she had earlier handed in at the counter.

She also pleaded guilty to stealing a fridge freezer, dining table and chairs, along with a patio set from a part-furnished home she was renting between February and June last year, and breaching a conditional discharge.

A neighbour of the property, in Chester-le-Street, had told her landlord they had seen Walls, now of Meadow Terrace, Herrington Burn, handing items over to a scrap man.

Michael Hodgson, defending, said Walls is due to give birth in September to her fourth child. “She is upset that she has found herself in this situation and she doesn’t want to come to court again,” he added.

She was sentenced to a 12-month community order with supervision. And was told to pay £193 in fines, costs and compensation.
