Police renew appeal after 91-year-old badly injured in accident outside Sunderland pizza restaurant

POLICE are renewing their appeal for witnesses following a collision in Sunderland in which a 91-year-old man was injured.

It happened on Wednesday, February 19, when a Ford Focus C-Max was travelling southbound on Whitburn Bents Road.

The car was involved in a collision with an elderly pedestrian who was crossing the carriageway outside Santino’s Pizza restaurant.

The man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary suffering serious injuries where he remains and is still receiving treatment. His condition is described as comfortable and stable.

Police are appealing for witnesses and in particular for a couple of vehicles who are believed to have driven passed at the time of the collision.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area and who witnessed the collision to contact Motor Patrols on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference number 1093 190214.
