Police have released the name of a woman who was killed in Newcastle.
The woman who died following a collision near to the Discovery museum in Blandford Square on Monday, August 1, as Julie Snowball, 41, from Wearside.
Ms Snowball died of serious injuries after she was hit by a van in the early hours of Monday morning, shortly after midnight.
Police received a call at 12.20am, Ms Snowball was taken to hospital, but died as a result of the injuries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Despite treatment by the paramedics the woman sadly died as result of the serious injuries sustained during the collision.
“Inquiries are ongoing into the collision and officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Blandford Square this morning and who saw what happened to contact them.”
Officers have said Ms Snowball was wearing a distinctive bright pink top, pink trousers and pink shoes at the time and are asking anyone who might have seen the woman or spoken to her in the hours before the incident to get in touch.
