Police probe after baby’s death

POLICE have launched a probe after the death of a three-month-old baby.

Officers have launched an investigation into the unexplained death of the girl, who was discovered inside a house in Blackhall Colliery.

Emergency services were called to the house at about 5.20am on Friday, where paramedics found that the baby was not breathing and had no heartbeat.

She was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out to establish a cause of death.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary, said: “Police were called to an address in Blackhall Colliery on the morning of Friday, June 27, following reports of the death of a three-month-old baby.

“The early stages of an investigation into the circumstances of the death is under way, at this time it remains unexplained.”
