A STUDENT who was found dead in his car on the outskirts of Durham earlier this week has now been formally identified.

A member of the public discovered Andrew Etches, 23, in his blue Vauxhall Corsa on a back road behind the Stonebridge pub, near Neville’s Cross on Tuesday morning, June 25.

Because chemicals were suspected to be involved in his death the emergency services were at the scene for a considerable time throughout Tuesday.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Mr Etches was a final year Durham University student from Van Mildert College.

He is from the Kimberley area of Nottingham.

A postmortem examination will take place next week to determine a formal cause of death and the coroner is expected to open an inquest in due course.
