Police make arrest after man found with 'significant' head injury in Sunderland street
Officers investigating an incident which saw a man suffer a ‘significant’ head injury have made an arrest
Northumbria Police was called to Frederick Street in South Hylton, Sunderland, at around midnight on Friday, July 10 following reports of concern for a man.
He was found with a significant head injury and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hide AdA number of vehicles parked outside an address on nearby John Street had also been vandalised. Police believe the incidents are linked and launched an investigation.


A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and has since been released on police bail.

Hide AdPolice are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A force spokesman said: “Shortly before midnight on Friday, July 10, we received a report of concern for a male on Frederick Street, Sunderland.
“Emergency services attended and found a man with a significant head injury and a suspected broken arm.
"He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hide Ad“A number of vehicles parked outside an address on nearby John Street had also been vandalised.
“An investigation is ongoing into both incidents which officers are treating as linked.
"A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has since been released on police bail.
