A HAUL of goblets was uncovered by police after they found a bag filled with suspected stolen goods.

The silver cups, grubby with dirt, were found by officers at a house in Easington Colliery as part of an investigation.

Police believe the three heavy wine cups were stolen and are now trying to trace their rightful owners.

The embossing on the metal, which is hallmarked, shows swirls, vines and grapes on the band around the top of the cups and crest, which is similar to a family or school crest.

Officers say they do not think the items found alongside them have any links to where they were taken from.
