HOMEOWNERS are being warned after rogue traders conned a victim out of money after offering to clear their driveway.

The two men, believed to be in their 50s, agreed an amount for the job at the couple’s home, near Chester Road, Penshaw, at about 4.15pm on Tuesday.

But after the work was completed they then asked their victims for even more money.

The conmen were described as being between 5ft 4in and 5ft 5in.

One was described as being medium build, having mousey grey hair, wearing glasses and a yellow high visibility coat and dirty trousers.

The second as being of a thin build, with light brown receding hair and was wearing dark clothing.

Police officers have urged residents to remain vigilant and are carrying out inquiries in order to trace the men responsible. They want people who may have been visited by them or anyone with information about their identity to contact them on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
