Police hunt fake gun raider after attempted robbery at Sunderland store

POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with an attempted robbery at a shop.

A member of staff raised the alarm after a thug, armed with what is believed to have been an imitation gun, entered the convenience store, in Belvedere Road, Ashbrooke.

However, the shopkeeper challenged the suspect by throwing items of stock at him and he ran off.

No one was injured in the attack.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they believe can help with their inquiries.

Anyone with information about the crime, which happened at about 8.50pm on Sunday, December 15, is urged to contact police on 101, ext 69191, quoting reference 1148 15/12/13.
