Police called to Sunderland Royal Hospital after suspected burglar allegedly stole sweets and purse from doctor

A man has been charged after police were alerted to an alleged burglary at a hospital.

At about 9.45pm on Sunday, September 20, officers were called to Sunderland Royal Hospital after security staff reported that an intruder had broken into a private conference room and taken a purse and sweets from a doctor’s bag.

The area was strictly off-limits to the public.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with burglary and will appear before South Tyneside magistrates later this year.
