Police appeal over raid car

POLICE are appealing for help to trace a car used in a street robbery.

Detectives investigating the raid in Haddon Road, Grangetown, are asking the public for any information about a Renault Clio used in the raid.

The thieves struck at 12.09pm on Monday, August 5, grabbing the bag of cash from an 86-year-old man who was walking along the road, near to the post office.

Officers are now appealing for the public’s help to trace the dark green Clio, registration NJ05 OYZ.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Dipper, who is leading the investigation, said: “We need to find this car and identify the current owner.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has seen the car since Monday, August 5, or who knows where it is.”

A 40-year-old Sunderland man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed pending further inquiries.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the Renault Clio either being driven or parked up.
