Police appeal after taxi driver robbed in Sunderland

POLICE are hunting three men after a taxi driver was robbed in Sunderland.

The victim was driving the men in his taxi when they turned on him, taking his money bag.

The robbery happened in Cairo Street, Hendon, at 1.45am yesterday.

The three men made off down an alley on Long Street, heading towards Corporation Road.

They are described as in their 30s, dressed in light and dark clothing.

The taxi driver, a man in his 50s, was not injured in the incident.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
