Police are appealing for information after teenage girl was dragged to the ground and attacked.

The 14–year–old girl was assaulted in Station Approach East Boldon, between 7.30pm and 7.47pm on Saturday, May 23.

The girl has just alighted the Metro and was walking along the road when she saw a group of teenagers who she spoke to.

As she walked off a teenage girl from the group came across and an altercation took place between one of the victim’s group.

The 14–year–old intervened and was dragged to the ground and attacked by the girl.

Other teenagers present came to her aid and the injured youngster made her way home and police were contacted.

Officers are appealing for the teenagers who were there at the time of the incident to come forward.

They would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time and may have information to contact them. Anyone with information should contact police on 101, extension 69191, quoting reference number 31613W/15 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
