Police appeal after gang attack that left young man needing plastic surgery

At around 10pm, on Friday, January 24, the victim and his friend walked into the subway that links Biddick with Fatfield in Washington, where he was attacked by a group of male youths.

The victim escaped with his friend, running along Biddick Lane and past St. Robert of Newminster Catholic School.

He split up from his friend, but was pursued by one of the youths, who pushed him into the road, where he fell on his face.

As a result the 18-year-old victim was left with serious injuries to his upper lip and forehead, as well as a number of grazes and swellings to his face and had to have immediate plastic surgery.

He is currently at home recovering from his injuries and is still receiving regular medical treatment.
