Police have targeted troublemakers causing anti-social behaviour in Eden Vale in Sunderland.

Ringleaders have been visited at home by officers from the local neighbourhood policing team and Sunderland City Council’s anti-social behaviour team and Acceptable Behaviour Agreements given to repeat offenders.

The council’s environmental services department has removed graffiti and litter and cut down overgrown foliage in back lanes and around Wearhead Drive.

Chairman of the Safer Sunderland Partnership Coun Harry Trueman added: “We are all determined to do everything possible to reduce and discourage anti-behaviour in Eden Vale, and the whole community has a vital role to play.

“The hard work will continue, to prevent the mindless actions of a small minority creating problems for residents, schools and businesses.

“With the support of the community we can identify and address issues as they arise to make sure people can get on with their lives without suffering nuisance.”
