Pensioner robbed of her purse in Sunderland street - can you help with Northumbria Police's appeal?

A 70-year-old woman was the target of a robbery in a Sunderland street.

Northumbria Police has released an image of a man officers would like to speak to after the incident, which took place in the Leechmere Road area of the city.

The victim had got off a bus and was walking towards Asda shortly after 12pm on Wednesday, February 19 when she was bundled to the ground by a man behind her.

The offender reached into the pensioner’s handbag and took a black Radley purse containing bank cards and approximately £100 in cash.

Detectives have identified a man they would like to trace. He was in the area at the time of the robbery and could have information that can assist officers.
