A PENSIONER was threatened with a knife after a burglar burst into his home.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at 7pm yesterday in Lyons Avenue, Easington Lane.

A man went into the house through a back door where he was disturbed by the occupant, an elderly man.

The offender threatened the victim with a knife before making off empty handed.

Enquiries are being carried out into the burglary and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Simon Auty said: “Luckily the occupant was not injured but understandably he was left incredibly shaken.

“We’re carrying out enquiries and are asking anyone who was in Easington Lane and saw anyone acting suspiciously or saw anything that was out of the ordinary to contact police.

“Extra officers are in the area both to carry out enquiries into the burglary and to also offer reassurance to local residents.”
