Pensioner charged with burgling coronavirus testing centre as staff waited for next patient

A man has been charged in connection with a burglary at a hospital clinic testing people for coronavirus.

Staff at the University Hospital of North Durham were waiting for their next patient at the time.

Jack Misiak, 67, of Pilgrims Way in Durham, has been charged with the burglary of masks, a hand gel, protective suits and nurse’s watch from a tent in the grounds of the hospital on Friday, April 10.

He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 14.
