POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they want to question in connection with an attack on a Metro passenger.

British Transport Police has launched an investigation after a woman on a train was “verbally abused”, at 10.30pm on July 28.

Pc Nick Cannon said: “A 23-year-old woman from Sunderland, who was travelling alone, boarded the service at Monument station, Newcastle.

“As she got up to leave the train at St Peter’s station, a man who had been sat with the group and been quiet throughout the journey, suddenly verbally abused her.

“The victim left the train feeling extremely upset and frightened by the experience and contacted police.”
