Parking fines office targeted in suspected arson attack causing thousands of pounds of damage

Thousands of pounds of damage has been caused to a parking fines office after it caught light in a suspected arson attack.

Durham Constabulary is appealing for information following a suspected arson attack at the parking fines office on the outskirts of Durham on the road leading into Pity Me from Framwellgate Moor.A spokesperson said: “The incident happened at about 2am this morning, June 19, at the Parking Shop, in Finchale Road, Durham.

“The suspects are believed to have smashed a window and used an accelerant to start a fire which has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

“If you have any information about suspicious vehicles or people you have seen in the area at the time of the incident, contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 23 of June 19.”
