Newcastle man in court accused of Peterlee murder

A MAN was due to appear before magistrates today charged with the murder of Cole Wilson.

 John Blackburn, 19, from Walker in Newcastle, is accused of stabbing to death Mr Cole at a house in Peterlee in the early hours of Sunday.

 A post-mortem examination carried out yesterday revealed the 20-year-old died after being stabbed in the chest and side of his head during the attack at the house in Sledmere Close.

 Two women, aged 24 and 20, were also arrested at the Peterlee house but have been released without charge.

 A 40-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were also arrested at a house in Walker on suspicion of assisting an offender.

 They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
