A FAMILIAR face has been tasked with keeping Sunderland city centre’s streets crime free.
Inspector Mick Hall is no stranger to neighbourhood policing or the team he now heads, Sunderland Central, after spending 16 years on the beat across the city.
After working his way up to sergeant, tasked with looking after the city centre, he has now been promoted to inspector.
He said: “During my time policing the city, I have made some excellent links within the community and worked closely with shops and licensed premises in the city centre.
“I have been involved in the city’s Shopwatch scheme, which has won a number of awards, to help tackle retail crime such as shoplifting.
“In addition, myself and the team work closely with licensed premises and support Pubwatch.
“My priority is responding to the issues that affect the community and would urge anyone with concerns to contact us.”
