HOUGHTON and Sunderland South MP Bridget Phillipson and Northumbria police and crime commissioner Vera Baird have joined bobbies on their beat in Shiney Row.
The pair took part in a walkabout after attending a coffee morning in the village.
“Antisocial behaviour blights communities,” Bridget said.
“My coffee morning was the first step in bringing together local residents, officers and the police and crime commissioner so we can take action.
“I will be continuing my work to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, and would encourage local residents to get in touch or attend my next coffee morning.”
Ms Baird said: “I want to encourage residents to talk to officers from their neighbourhood policing team so they can make sure police tackle the issues that people are most concerned about.
“Speaking to people here and meeting local officers, we know that anti-social behaviour remains an issue, even though it has reduced by 14 per cent between April and September.”
