The driver was caught speeding at 63 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour area of Sherburn Village, near Durham City, by Durham Constabulary’s Road Policing Unit (RPU).
A force Facebook message on Monday, June 8, stated “63mph in a 30mph limit is not acceptable” and showed an image of equipment with the 63 miles per hour reading.

Neighbouring Northumbria Police reported only last week how a motorist was facing similar action after they were caught driving at 96 miles hour along 50 miles per hour Houghton Cut.
With lockdown restrictions easing and roads likely to become busier, officers have urged motorists to watch their speeds.
