More than a dozen police warning letters sent to parents and four adults fined after weekend lockdown breaches

Warning letters have been sent to 15 parents and four adults were given fines for breaking Covid rules as police spent the weekend patrolling East Durham communities.

Peterlee Neighbourhood Police Team also seized two quad bikes in the Wingate area as part of Operation Endurance, which aims to tackle off-road nuisance and antisocial behaviour.

A total of 15 warning letters have also been issued to parents after their children were found breaching the current Covid-19 guidelines in Peterlee and the surrounding villages.

Four adults were issued with Fixed Penalty Notices for breaching the lockdown rules.

The team has asked anyone who has concerns regarding antisocial behaviour or nuisance in the area to contact the officers on 101 or via the Live Chat facility located on the Durham Constabulary website.
