Officers from Peterlee CID have issued the footage as they investigate the arson in Trimdon Station.

It happened just after 9.15pm on Tuesday, March 10, when a BMW and a Ford Transit van were set alight.

Two men can be seen spraying flammable liquid into the vehicle vents before setting them on fire and running off.

Detective Constable John Forster said: “We believe this is a rare and isolated incident but it has understandably left the victim in shock.

“Inquiries are ongoing but I would encourage anyone with information to share it with us so we can bring the perpetrators to justice.”
